Not only India’s but also the world’s, UP police is the biggest force of police; uttar pradesh police’s Director General controls around 1.7 Lacs force of UP police. The uttar pradesh police personnel are deployed across 33 battalions, 72 districts of the state as well as specialized branches/wings pertaining to investigation, technical, forensic science, intelligence, anti corruption and training etc. The current system of police was formed after Mr. H.M. Court headed Police Commission recommended in 1860; this led to 1861 Police Act. The first Police’s Inspector General of erstwhile Avadh and North West Province was Mr. Court. Post Independence, state’s first Inspector General of UP police was Mr. B.N. Lahiri.
